Design & purpose: Oris is a small statement basket that marries functionality with a boho-artisan aesthetic. Its round shape and intricate pattern of fine white cotton cords create an elegant, eye-catching accent for any room. Materials & sustainability: The basket is made primarily from sustainable banana fibre, complemented by cotton and nylon thread. Banana fibre is harvested from the layered trunks of mature banana trees that are no longer productive. The fibres are naturally sun-dried, producing an intense brown tone, then rolled into characteristic strands roughly 6 mm thick. Using this material gives each basket a warm, natural appearance and supports upcycling of agricultural byproducts. Packaging is plastic-free, and all items are 100% handmade and fair trade.
Handmade quality: Every Oris basket is handcrafted in Java, Indonesia, by experienced adult artisans who work under fair conditions. No harmful chemicals are used in production. Because the baskets are made entirely by hand from natural materials, individual pieces may vary slightly in size, color, and shape. This uniqueness is part of their charm.
